The San Diego Convention Center
This year ToorCon will take place on October 19th-21st at the San Diego Convention Center. San Diego is not only a natural beauty, it's also one of the nation's most vibrant cities and the Convention Center is at the heart of all the action. The beautiful bayside building is just a short stroll away from an exciting array of sidewalk cafes, specialty shops, art galleries and clubs in the historical Gaslamp District, thousands of hotel rooms, gorgeous waterfront parks, some of the finest restaurants in Southern California, the dynamic new San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum and PETCO Park, the San Diego Padres' fabulous new downtown ballpark.
Rooms
ToorCon's Conference and Reception will be located at rooms 25-27 on the San Diego Convention Center's Upper Level (on the street side).
Hotels
We've thrown together a list of pricing for hotels within walking distance on the convention center. There are many other cheaper hotels that are farther away in San Diego that you can find if you shop around. Most other hotels in downtown are within walking distance or a $5 cab ride. If you're looking for a good deal, you may want to check hotels in Old Town or closer to Mission Valley that are near the Trolley which will take you to the convention center for ~ $1.25-$2.00. The hotel list below lists whether a hotel is near a trolley stop or not. More information on the San Diego Metro System can be found at sdcommute.com. If you come across any good deals on hotels, please email me so I can post them up on this page.
Travel
If you are flying into San Diego, make sure you fly to Lindberg Field which is only ~ 3 miles away from the SD Convention Center. It should only be a $5-7 cab ride or a $2.25 bus ride on the 992 to get to your hotel if you're staying in Downtown San Diego. If you are arriving by train, you can take the Orange Line Trolley to the Convention Center from Santa Fe Depot. If you get a hotel in Old Town or Mission Valley you can take the Blue Line to the Orange Line which will put you right in front of the Convention Center.
Parking
On-site private vehicle parking is available in the Convention Center's underground 1,900-space parking garage. The cost is $8 per vehicle per day for ToorCon attendees. Limited metered parking (free between 6pm-8am) is available at the Embarcadero behind the Convention Center.
